We discussed what needed to be modified on Liberty, last year’s robot. We are going to disassemble the upper attachment parts and leave the chassis. The chassis and drive train are in good operational shape. See below for our existing chassis.

We will build from the chassis up. This will allow us to concentrate on handling of the game elements.

The first thing we are doing is to mock up a stone handling mechanism. We are brainstorming ideas and will pick what seems to be the most promising contraption. 

Our first idea is to make a claw-like mechanism using foam wheels,springs, and gears to grasp the stones. We are going to mount this on a three stage lift that can fold back to fit under the skybridges.

NOPE! We quickly discovered that this type of mechanism will be too bulky and temperamental to function properly. See below for our initial, disregarded idea.
